Skeletons for Project to Project task import
|
|
Since the development of our new Project task import feature a few customers have been asking for “global” tasks, or items that they work on all the time to be available for import. Here’s a very quick solution to those requests – and one which I believe works really well.
TO IMPORT TASKS

Hi, I’m new to this forum and the Cashboard tool as a whole, but the suggestion above was very helpful for reuse of “project” tasks. Is there a way that we can pull from our “global” tasks from Project to create Estimates? Or would we have to re-create the same list of our standard services to create Estimates? |

Hey Delady, you can import tasks from other Estimates, but not other projects. Just follow the same sort of procedure. |

Does this mean I have to set up a global project for each company i’m working for? I tried setting up one for my own company, but I can’t seem to import those tasks to a project for another client. |

No, you can import tasks from any project. It’s not company specific. |

Ok great…how do I do this? When I go to create an invoice for company b, I only have the option of importing tasks from the one project i previously made for that company. The dummy project under company a doesn’t show up? |

Justin, I believe you’re confused. What I’m discussing here is copying tasks from project to project. Not project to invoice. You may only import items to an invoice using projects for that invoice’s company. Make sense? |

Ah yes, of course…importing from project to project works just like you described, imagine that! :) So there’s no way to import tasks from another project directly to an invoice then? Maybe this wouldn’t work because it would bypass your project limit I guess… Great little app though, I’m seriously considering this over Freshbooks right now! |

Exactly, wouldn’t really make much sense if you could invoice for closed projects. I’ve gotta feed the server gremlins and my stomach some way ;) |
