We have regular projects, but we also have retainer agreements with some clients for regular support and maintenance where we charge a set rate at the beginning of each month for that month’s work, and then track our time. They can see time reports but they pay the same retainer regardless how much time is used. If they are overtime then they pay a different rate for the additional hours.

A flat fee per month with scheduled invoices would work, but then I also need to make the logged hours show up as billed.

Any cool ideas how to accomplish this with Cashboard? Thanks!

Your solution sounds good. I’d create a scheduled invoice with a flat fee as you mention…

Then for all hours you could track them as billable and…

...set the rate to $0

OR

...add a discount item that offsets the charges on the invoice before sending.

Cashboard supports negative amounts for line items, either method will work fine. It just depends on how you’d like the invoice to appear to your client.
