Topic: Troubleshooting & Bug Reports / Why can't we change the project on a timesheet entry? I frequently commit timers without an incorrect project. There doesn’t appear to be a way for me to reassign a time entry to the correct project, which forces me to recreate the timer from scratch. Is there a technical hurdle that would prevent such a simple change? The busier I get the more this happens, and it’s really start to become a major PITA. TIA, Dave |

Topic: Random / Accepting credit cards is too expensive! I went with Applied Merchant Systems because they were recommended by Subimage. Now that I’ve actually started to catch up on reconciling my account I’m shocked to find that I’m paying 4% of each transaction + other fees. The devil in this case is in the fine print, where they tack on nearly 2% for corporate and/or rewards cards, which is what every one of my clients is paying with. Even PayPal is less than this! Intuit offers a fixed 2.44% for card not present regardless of card type, but they said that I can’t use Authorize.net as my payment gateway. Can anyone recommend a better credit card processor that does work with Authorize.net? Any chance that Cashboard will accept other payment types in the future which have a lower transaction rate?’ TIA, Dave |

Topic: Feature Requests / Allow non-admin users to manage tasks There are probably many options that we might not all agree on, but at a bare minimum I think we can all agree that somebody working on the project should be able to view the project tasks. Since a worker can’t possibly log time against a project whose tasks they cannot see. As I’ve said, there’s no easy way to send them a copy of the project tasks either since there is no way to PDF the project (please correct me if I’m wrong). I’d suggest showing the project & tasks but hiding everything else until you find a good way to deal with the permissions model. |

Topic: Feature Requests / Allow non-admin users to manage tasks I second this. I just added a sub and ran into this. At a minimum, I expected him to be able to view the project and estimate but it turns out he can’t even see this info. I sent him a copy of the estimate, but I might make changes to the project directly and there’s no way for me to PDF a copy of the project tasks that I can see. Looks like I’ll have to copy/paste into an e-mail any changes that I make to the projects, as well as budget updates on individual tasks. Ugh. |

Topic: Feature Requests / Showing time entry notes on Timesheet PDF? I use this feature too much actually! Since all of my clients have requested timer details on their invoices, it’s a major PITA to have to do this for every invoice prior to sending. It would be nice if we could have a client preference to receive invoices with timer detail that the invoice would just inherit. |

Topic: Feature Requests / New project/task selection widget is less usable I suppose it makes more sense, and becomes a bit less annoying after using it a lot. You might also think about just making the dialog a little larger to prevent so much needless scrolling. Food for thought: I just stumbled on this project selection technique from 37Signals, which looks better than anything else I could’ve dreamed up. Large clickable targets for the five most recent projects, in a fashion that includes the best of your project/task selector and pop-up menus. |

Topic: Feature Requests / New project/task selection widget is less usable First, I love nearly all of the enhancements Seth … you absolutely ROCK! When I first saw the widget to select projects and tasks I thought it was pretty slick, but soon realized that it’s actually less usable than the dual drop-downs. I commonly used keyboard selection to jump right to the project and task, and it’s now taking quite a bit of extra effort. What used to take a few key presses now takes a click, followed by the inevitable scrolling, followed by another click and more scrolling and then another click. Since the projects and tasks show multiple lines they take up far more vertical screen real estate and I can’t type ahead to jump to items that I know by name. You claim it takes 50% less mouse clicks than the old method, so maybe I’m missing a shortcut. A click-select-release in a pop-up menu takes only one click for a total of two clicks for both pop-up menus. Even if you count each menu as two clicks the new control requires three clicks and often manual scrolling as well. Am I alone in hoping for a return to the admittedly less visually appealing but more usable dual drop-downs? - Dave p.s. sorry to nitpick; I truly appreciate the hard work you’ve put into the recent upgrades! |

Topic: Tips & Tricks / Non-billable time Of course we’d like to think that we’re all perfect and don’t ever make mistakes, but the reality is that on occasion we have to give time away for one reason or another. Usually when this happens it’s helpful to let the client know that you aren’t charging them for this time. The only way that I’ve found to do this now is to create an invoice ahead of time and enter a negative line item adjustment entry. It would be much nicer if we could just import the non-billable entries to the invoice. I tried leaving it billable and creating a negative timer entry but that doesn’t work. If there’s any better way to accomplish this I’m all ears. - Dave |

Topic: Troubleshooting & Bug Reports / How to issue a credit Damn. Accidentally charged sales tax and noticed after the customer has paid via credit card. Is it possible to create a credit using Cashboard? |
