Topic: Troubleshooting & Bug Reports / Marking an employee's active timer "billable" zeroes it.

Also – if a running timer is pulled into an invoice, the clock stops. Just happened to me, here. One employee’s running timer on a particular task was pulled into the invoice, another employee’s was not. The first one’s timer was stopped.

By the way, when I mentioned the “previously saved time,” I should have better described it as “the time that was stored, when the timer was last stopped.”

Sorry for the late reply – I guess I missed the e-mail notification on this… Yes, when marking a task billable, the timer was reset to an lower time. (It seemed that it went to the previously saved time. I’m not sure if the server-side timers came into place since I experienced that, so this might no longer be an issue.) I have changed my behaviour to prevent the problem, so haven’t seen it lately.

Topic: Troubleshooting & Bug Reports / Marking an employee's active timer "billable" zeroes it.

Greetings – I’ve experienced a problem a few times where marking an active timer of one of my employees as “billable” kills the timer. I believe it’s zeroing the timer, and it begins counting up again from 0.

Thanks for looking into it!

Topic: Tips & Tricks / Create your own Invoice Number methodology

Greetings,

While it is very handy to have the intelligent incrementing of invoice numbers, is there a way to reset the numbering system? I prefer a YYYYMMxx number system, like 20080501 through 20080599.

At some point, however, I must have entered extra digits, so the numbering now starts far too high, like 20080322812.

flatcat’s “bug” may have been a “feature” to me, in allowing me to reset the default invoice number to a lower number.

Is there an alternate method to do this, when the numbering goes awry? Thanks!

Topic: Troubleshooting & Bug Reports / Missing "View Time for Another Person"

Thanks, Seth! I now see it – we are 2, here, so that must have been the hitch. Thanks!

Has the “View time for another person” option in the timesheet been removed by accident or by design?

Topic: Troubleshooting & Bug Reports / Time Entries are being posted to Yesterday

I don’t know if this is related to the previous post, or a side-effect of any such updates, but our time entries added in the timesheet are being fired into “Yesterday” each time. They are being recorded with the right day (in the details), although with a 00:00 time of day. We can get them to display in Today, if we change the time of day, and keep today’s date.

Topic: Feature Requests / Redundant Display of Basecamp Imported Time Entries in Invoices

Nearly all time that I post in Basecamp is attached to a particular to-do item. So, grouping them by the todo-item-id would probably work for me.

To avoid confusion, perhaps a checkbox at the top or bottom of the invoice like “Group time entries for each task” or “Sum up each Task” or “Just Show Task Totals.” Clicking the checkbox would reload the page with a much shorter list, where each task would be listed just once, with its sum time total.

While I would prefer the previous method first, it might also be occasionally handy to be able to manually merge tasks on the invoice. For example, each task would have a checkbox beside it, and a “Merge Tasks” button at the top/bottom of the page would allow me to selectively put those time items together, and if desired, edit the task name to simplify the invoice for the client.

Thanks!

Topic: Feature Requests / Redundant Display of Basecamp Imported Time Entries in Invoices

Perhaps I’m missing something?

When I import time entries from Basecamp, they display in the invoice like:

Task 1 – 1:00
Task 2 – 4:00
Task 1 – 45:00
Task 1 – 25:00
Task 2 – 4:00

Rather than summing the totals for each task:

Task 1 – 1:11:00
Task 2 – 8:00

Using the Cashboard Timer seems to work in the way I would expect (and prefer) to provide a sum of all the entries, rather than redundant listings for each individual entry.

By the way – can I confirm that the Widget now supports Mac OS X Leopard – 10.5? I saw an earlier posting that suggested otherwise.

Thanks, in advance, for your reply! I’d love to sign up with you and join the ride, as you grow Cashboard with your killer Basecamp task-level integration features. I just need the invoices to be less than three feet long!
