Topic: Problem with Deposit Invoices in past projects

Adrienne,

Could you email support with the specifics of this problem? Specifically…which account are you using, and what deposit invoices are giving you trouble.

Thanks.

Topic: Strange invoice ordering behavior

The default order is by due date.

I understand it’s a bit tricky because you can’t sort / reorder them. It’s something we’re aware of.

Adrienne, if you’re just talking about tracking tax on sold items, Cashboard can already do that.

If you’re talking about tracking taxes on purchased items, Cashboard can’t do that right now. However I’ve heard that request a couple of times. If you feel it’s something you need definitely bring it up on our official feature request site

Expect 1-2 hours of downtime on Saturday night, starting at 12am PST. Christmas is coming early.

While “v2” isn’t feature complete, it’s done enough to where we can get it out to you guys and gals. We’ll be rounding out a couple of features before it’s “official” but there’s nothing preventing us from releasing it early.

Also – if you know of someone who’s interested in trying Cashboard but doesn’t yet have an account please have them email support AT getcashboard DOT com.

I’m scheduling usability tests with new customers and compensating them with a few months of free service for their time.

As you all can tell, we’ve greatly expanded the range of this release. Internally we’re calling it “Cashboard v2” because of all the great improvements.

We’re adjusting a couple more things having to do with workflow at the moment before it goes out. Expect detailed blog posts previewing the new functionality to get you adjusted before we roll it out.

I’m very excited about this next release. It’s definitely the best, most thought out package on the market.

Topic: Invoice reminders not working properly

Adrienne, I wasn’t aware this was happening. I’ll look into it after our expense feature release which we’re focusing on right now.

Can you please email support@getcashboard.com with any more specifics? The invoice schedule #’s in question would be wonderful.

Topic: Unpaid Invoices?

Adrienne, yes that’s a great point. A few people here and there ask about that feature and I will definitely give it some thought.

I need to think where this “bad debt” would be reported and how the entire workflow would happen.

Please suggest it and vote over here > http://cashboard.uservoice.com

Awesome! Can’t wait for expenses. And the inline editing is sweet. I’m right behind AdamJ in the beta testers line! ;)

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that Expenses are currently in progress.

We’re working on a number of great things for this release, and you all will be pleasantly surprised by the numerous UI improvements when it launches.

Many areas of the system will feature inline editing as shown in the picture above. No more modal window editing. It’s much faster and a lot more intuitive. …Plus you can click right in the row to edit, not just on the pencil icon!

Hopefully grouping these changes together will help everyone digest the update easier. I’m trying to be sensitive to some customers that said they get disoriented with frequent UI updates.

I’m shooting for an end of the month October release, but the new features will definitely be worth the wait.

See why I never promise feature release dates in support emails?

Topic: Unpaid Invoices?

Hi Kevin,

No there’s not a special feature for dealing with invoices that won’t get paid.

We leave dealing with those situations up to you, because everyone’s business is different. Some of our customers like to create a line item on the invoice with a negative flat fee amount, to offset the outstanding cost. This allows you to zero out the invoice if you so choose.

Topic: Unpaid Invoices?

Is there any functionality around unpaid invoices? Ie, invoices that were only partially paid or you realise you are not going to be able to get payment for?

Topic: Bad debt?

Sorry to hear one of your clients is being a deadbeat. :(

At the present there’s really not a great way to mark an invoice as “uncollectable”. You could deal with this a few different ways I believe.

  • Delete the invoice, then go delete each time entry associated with it (time consuming)
  • Add a negative line item to the invoice to offset the balance
  • Delete the client

Any progress on this item? I realized I have no way to apply a balance due to the next invoice… or do I?

Of course you do. Navigate to the invoice in question, click the “Apply Payment” button. The system will realize you have a credit outstanding for your client and ask if you’d like to apply it.

Still evaluating the proper design for this feature, but it’s near the top of my personal list.
