Topic: Serious problems with timers

Ben – have you still been experiencing this issue?

I spent a few solid hours putting the timers through every imaginable scenario I could come up with and I couldn’t get it to do anything like you’re describing.

If you are still having issues please let me know a reliable way to reproduce this and I’ll be able to better help you.

Sorry I can’t give you anything more than that.

Weird stuff Ben. You running any extensions in Firefox that would cause those issues? I’ve tested it pretty extensively and can’t get those to show up.

Regardless – I’ll give it another solid look when I’m doing some bug sweeping after this PayPal release. Really hard to track this down though if there aren’t reliable ways to reproduce the issues.

As mentioned, a video would be really useful if you feel like you’ve found a way to reproduce them.

I’m using the built in timer on the web app itself. I’ve tried the widget but I don’t like it. It doesn’t feel very responsive because it doesn’t communicate that it’s busy or waiting, and it doesn’t have enough features.

Here’s another error from the web app timer, a JavaScript “not a number” error:

Unfortunately I haven’t figured out how to consistently reproduce any of these errors. I just know (and can prove from these screenshots) that there are numerous problems.

I don’t think I’m doing anything weird. I just start and stop and pause a few timers throughout the day. I used the timers again today, and at first I couldn’t reproduce the problem, but it just showed up again.

First I started a paused timer and the hour total suddenly changed and no longer added up correctly: http://benjaminshell.com/hotlinks/numbers_dont_add_up.png

Then I paused this timer again, and edited it, and the notes that were there disappeared and were replaced with notes from a timer earlier in day:

I think the order of the timer entries switched too. Aren’t the newest entries usually on top? The order of these is now opposite.

Wow, that’s definitely a new one on me.

Can you explain your method of editing / interacting with time entries? Obviously I haven’t seen this or heard of any problems like this or it’d be fixed.

If you can post a video of it happening that would be even better. I use Jing (which is free) to create screen recordings.

For the last couple weeks I’ve been noticing major glitches with time tracking. Sometimes the total is wrong, until I refresh the page. Other times when I edit an entry the edited entry gets the description from another time record (and I lose the original description for the record I’m editing!). Anyway, it’s been happening so regularly that I figured it was obvious and getting fixed, but since I don’t see it reported here and haven’t seen an update on it I thought I’d better mention it! Tomorrow I’m going to start using a different time tracker until this is fixed, so please let me know if you know about this and are working to fix it!

I use Firefox 3.6.13 on the Mac.

Topic: What do Clients view when they log-in?

Sorry, I’m not following. Can you perhaps mail me some screengrabs with what you’re sending vs what you’d not like to see?

Best way to test is create yourself an account with another email address for that company, and login.

Topic: Hiding Rates

I agree, this is vital in some of my jobs as well to be able to timetrack using rates without having those rates disclosed.

Could you possibly email me a copy of one of these PDFs so I can see what you mean? (support at getcashboard dot com)

I do agree, there should be a way to mark these manually sent. There was that feature once upon a time, but it was removed in favor of doing it automatically when sent via email. This will probably reappear as a checkbox on the Details screen of each invoice.

It makes total sense to have that capability if you plan to print out invoices instead of sending them electronically.
